Metering Technician - Alvin Pyron

Georgia Power's Metering Department provides service to hospitals, government agencies, schools, businesses, and individuals will be relying on you to provide reliable electric service and accurate billing information.

  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Obtain a commercial driver’s license
  • Maintain <270 lbs. weight
  • Be nicotine and drug free
  • Pass pre-employment testing including a physical abilities assessment and SKAT-Meterman (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Test)
  • Two-year technical school degree, two-year Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunications degree, or a combination of related work experience/military training

Apprentice Metering Technician


Advancement opportunities include Metering Technician and Journeyman Metering Technician. 

The two-year Apprentice Metering Technician program comprises four modules, with each module consisting of classroom training and on the job training. Once an Apprentice Metering Technician meets all the requirements under this program, the employee will be promoted to "Meterman A" classification at the time a vacancy becomes available.
